Matchtech are recruiting on behalf of a major FTSE100 utilities company for an experienced indirect category manager to join their expanding, re-structured procurement team.

Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, you will manage a team of category buyers, to deliver individual and team targets across a portfolio of indirect services contracts and associated spend.

You will manage your team, ensuring recruitment, performance management and development, training and resources are in place in order for your team to be effective in their role.

You will develop and direct the implementation of sourcing strategies to enhance, develop and influence the business whilst ensuring fully compliant contracts are in place to meet business needs and objectives.

You will develop effective relationships with internal stakeholders to challenge and gain a comprehensive understanding of their requirements, whilst using appropriate tools and techniques to deliver continuous improvement within the supply chain.

You are an experienced people manager, able to demonstrate current leadership skills in ensuring effective performance and development of reporting staff.

You are a genuine team player, ambitious for your own as well as others' success. You are self motivated, set challenging targets and deliver on your promises. You are a smart influencer with commercial drive and strong negotiation skills.

Ideally you are MCIPS qualified and have previously worked in a blue chip or utilities company.

Experience in OJEU/EU Procurement directives is also desirable.
