An automotive OEM requires a Calibration Engineer
Position Description:
OBD Certification and Compliance Engineer Responsible for the preparation of the documents required by the various certifying authorities and ensuring that the correct functionality is implemented in the powertrain control systems, primarily OBD II for California. The role involves working from supplier documentation and calibration files to produce the certification documents. It will be necessary to work with the relevant authorities (e.g. The California Air Resources Board), calibration and supplier engineers to understand the functionality and correct any compliance issues.
Skills Required:
1. Knowledge of the OBD II and EOBD regulations 2. Ability to understand engine management system documentation, e.g.Bosch Function frames 3. Ability to work with the ETAS INCA toolset to determine the calibration settings being used for the OBD functions 4. Ability to communicate complex engine management functions clearly in written and spoken English 5. Knowledge of Microsoft Office software, e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project
Skills Preferred:
1. Software application experience that would allow more automation in the production of the OBD documentation 2. A working knowledge of German would be advantageous
Experience Required:
1. Certification of cars or light trucks to California's OBD II regulation 2. Type approval of vehicles to the EU OBD requirements 3. Experience in the application or calibration of Diesel engine management systems, preferably the OBD functions
Education Required:
An HND or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic or Automotive Engineering
