Description
Our Client is a Global supplier of Configuration and Test and Service Bay Diagnostic solutions for the automotive industry based in Stockport, Cheshire. They currently require an additional C / C++ Software Engineer with proven experience of delivering subsystem developments to large scale and dependable solutions. Candidates must be proficient in C, C++ and WIN32 System programming including Processes, Multi-threading, DLL, Services, Sockets, File System, Security and COM models.

Key Objectives
- Prepare product feature and system extension briefs, through customer visits, use case analysis and requirements validation
- Prepare design specification documentation for major subsystem and component developments
- Provide best practice system architecture design and analysis skills for all tasks undertaken
- Implement required subsystems to process and procedure, inclusive of unit test records
- Support integration validation and systems assurance functions
- Act a reference and consultant to team members
- Provide periodic assistance to new project work definition phases
- The role will require international travel to customer sites to assist requirements capture, system installation, commissioning acceptance and bug fixes
- The role may require flexible approach to working hours due to the nature of business and geographic distribution of worldwide customer base
- The role will benefit from a basic understanding of automotive systems, product test philosophies and production line processes
Skills and Experience
- Must have proven experience in delivering subsystem developments to large-scale and dependable solutions
- Must be accustomed to working on project teams using shared code bases accessible through configuration management systems
- Must have proven ability to fulfil tasks inline with project requirements, quality levels and planning
- Must have a high degree of customer focus, urgency and thoroughness when dealing with raised issues and concerns
- Demonstrable Use Case requirements analysis skills
- System Architecture modelling skills e.g. Boundary, State and Sequence Diagrams.
- Task analysis and work break down skills to support planning function
- Proficiency in C / C++ Language
- Proficiency in Win32 System programming including Processes, Multi-threading, DLL, Services, Sockets, File System, Security and COM models
- XML & XPath technologies
- Use of class libraries
Beneficial but not essential
- Database design concepts SQL Query, Stored Procedures and Views under SQL2000 or Oracle 8/9i
- Linux PC based systems in general
- Java language & Eclipse Development
- Microsoft .NET Framework in general
- PC Hardware and Configuration
- IT Skills, Networking, OS Client and Server Installs and troubleshooting
