Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen with our client who provide diesel engine solutions and are trusted by more than 1,000 leading manufacturers in industrial, construction, agricultural, materials handling, marine and electrical power generation markets. They are seeking a CAE Structural Analyst to join their team of highly skilled engineers.
Job Duties
This position is part of a growing, multi disciplinary predictive engineering (CAE) team responsible for supporting the performance, emissions and mechanical development for Perkins and its parent company. The engines are used in machine, industrial and electric power applications.
The main responsibilities include:
Component / system modelling and boundary condition definition using finite element software.
Temperatures, stress, fatigue and vibration analysis.
Qualifications
Essential
A good degree (2:1 or above) in Engineering subject, Physics or Mathematics.
Pro-Active, questioning mindset and is enthusiastic and a self starter.
Strong technical skills and ability to communicate technical information effectively both verbally and in written form.
Good MS Office Knowledge (Word, Project, Excel and Powerpoint)
Ability to work effectively with customers to define requirements, deliver timely engineering guidance and prioritise a range of work.
Ability to work in a team environment and independently.
A sound understanding of engine fundamentals, together with an appreciation of the related underlying theoretical principles.
A proven track record of deliver, technical prowess and use of analytical methods, ideally in engine industry, is expected.
Desirable
Detailed ABACUS experience on thermal, structural and contact problems.
I-DEAS FE analysis experience, plus knowledge of modelling / geometry repair on solid components.Knowledge of NASTRAN for static, dynamics and forced response problems.

•Dissemination of design guidance into engine community within UK and US.
•Identification of new and improved engineering methods.
•Technical ownership of financial control of individual projects.
•Report writing and preparation of project related presentation material.
