Description
Our Client is a Global supplier of Configuration and Test and Service Bay Diagnostic solutions for the automotive industry based in Stockport, Cheshire. They currently require an additional C++ Software Engineer with some development experience of Visual C++, MFC and Windows environments. Candidates will ideally be recent graduates, looking to progress, with some experience in all stages of the software life cycle including requirements capture, design and testing.

Key Objectives
There are 2 key objectives to this role:
- Produce vehicle diagnostic applications using the companys integrated information and diagnostics authoring platform.
- Modify, develop and implement software programming applications in Visual C++ in a Windows environment.
The initial focus will be on authoring vehicle diagnostic applications. This will provide training and familiarisation with both the companys diagnostics authoring platform and also vehicle technologies and architecture. Once an understanding of the companys products and authoring system is achieved then there will be the opportunity to also implement applications in Visual C++.
Both objectives will require the following:
- Analysis of customer requirements and develop technical solutions. Thus may involve travel to customer sites.
- Interface with customers through customer meetings and conference calls.
- Debugging complex issues/crashes with little or no information.
- Delivering required product features in reliable and timely manner.
- Provide accurate time estimates for system feature implementation and assist with project planning activities.
- Ensure correct development and testing standards are applied to development tasks.
- Ensure correct product/system documentation is maintained.
- Ensure new technology is investigated where possible.
- Adhere to software build processes.
Skills and Experience
- Must have some experience in Visual C++ and MFC.
- Must have some experience in programming for Microsoft Windows
- Must have experience in all stages of the Software life-cycle (including requirements capture, design and Testing).
- Must have experience in developing new functionality from customer requirements
- Experience of the following is considered beneficial; Vehicle communications, HTTP, web development, ActiveX, JavaScript, XML, SourceSafe.
Candidates must also be;
- Educated to degree level
- A self-starter, hands on, determined in character and team orientated
- Customer and product delivery focused
- Product Quality, reliability and metrics focused
- Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Able to multi-task and work across several areas
- A good written and verbal communicator
