Working as part of an automotive software team, this role requires a flexible individual who is able to contribute towards both maintaining existing software and developing new software using a variety of skills and programming languages. The Automotive software consists of a number of software tools and development utilities authored with a mixture of C++, Visual Basic and SQL. In addition, all of the software has been developed to run on multiple operating systems with Win 2000, Win XP (standard and embedded), Vista, Win CE and Pocket PC being supported.
A new generation system using JAVA is currently being specified for development over the next few years so a transition from the current to new system will be required. While it is not expected that the successful candidate will possess all of these skills, it is a requirement that they are willing to learn new skills as required to aid in the support and development of the software.
Skills and Experience
Candidates will have a solid Software Engineering background and development skills in C++, preferably within an Embedded systems environment.
Must have strong team playing and communication skills along with a desire to learn new languages and technologies for the future development of the products.
Any experience with Microsoft Developer Studio, Windows programming and MFC would be advantageous.
Must have the ability to understand the existing software in order to maintain/enhance functionality.
Also have the capability to develop new software to customer specification
