Description
Buyer / Procurement Officer
Derby
£25K depending on relevant skills and experience
My client is a reputable supplier of energy systems to the construction industry. Due to continued increasing business, a Buyer is required to work in a small but busy Purchasing environment.
Reporting to the Procurement Section Leader, duties will include: -
•Sourcing New Vendors and Vendor Approvals
•Issuing Requests For Quotations and raising Purchase Orders
•Negotiating prices, payment schedules and Terms & Conditions
•Arranging shipments to UK and Overseas sites
•Collating order documentation - Certificates, Method Statements, Risk Assessments, Quality Plans etc
•Releasing invoices for payment (Resolving invoice queries, claims, etc)
•Compiling spares lists
•Working closely with the Proposals Team, Project Managers and Finance Department to source and deliver goods and services in line with the contract requirements
•Expediting - Obtaining manufacturing programmes weekly and installation programmes monthly
•Participating in Sourcing Reviews to ratify sourcing strategy for new projects
Essentially the successful candidate will: -
•Have a minimum of 5 years experience as a procurement officer
•Be available to take regular short term business trips within UK and abroad
•Have a CIPS qualification or equivalent in a purchasing related discipline
•Have worked in a similar engineering environment
•Be computer literate with excellent Microsoft Office skills
•Have a good telephone manner
•Have the ability to solve problems with an analytical approach
•Be a good negotiator, confident and self motivated
•Have a clean, current driving license, as some supplier visits will be required
