Description
ObjectiveTo procure a defined range of non-production goods and services, in line with Purchasing department procedures and objectives, focusing on securing strong commercial terms and excellent service quality levels from our suppliers.
Responsibilities:
With the Non-Production Purchasing Manager, develop and present commodity strategies which will meet the future business requirements of the Company
Plan and manage working time to meet business requirements
Maintain high level of customer service to User departments
Maintain flexible attitude to working tasks, recognising the need to adapt to constantly changing business requirements
Constantly strive for improvement opportunities within the Non-Production Purchasing function, through proposing changes to Management, and where appropriate, driving these improvement opportunities forward
Demonstrate mature, professional and conscientious approach to meeting departmental objectives and deadlines, being able to work well within a close knit team, as well as being able to act independently and under own initiative
Identify cost reduction and risk management opportunities for the categories of spend identified for the role, developing these opportunities into real improvements for the business
Demonstrate cost saving skills through cost and contract analysis, and strong negotiation tactics with suppliers
Communicate effectively through verbal and written means, taking an authoritative/arbitrative role with suppliers and internal customers when necessary
Resolve Purchasing related invoice queries in a timely manner
Qualifications/Experience
.Educated to Degree level
Membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS) would be looked upon favourably
Full Driving licence
Ideally, at least 5 years previous Purchasing experience, with 3 of these being in the Non-Production arena
Enthusiastic and passionate to succeed, organised, tenacious, commercially astute, assertive, tactful, confident, professional, excellent communication skills, ability to work effectively in times of intense work pressure
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, in particular, Excel, Word and Powerpoint
