Reporting to the Commodities Purchasing Team Leader, either Electrical/Hull or Steel/Mechanical, the Buyer will be responsible for managing a variety of commodities

Main Duties and Responsibilities
To support and enhance the current procurement structure in the development and implementation of strategic partnerships.
Deliver the strategic procurement objectives through the formation of long-term agreements.
Undertaking contract negotiation, placement and management.
To support the manufacturing environment(s) in the delivery of materials and services to cost, quality and time constraints.
Effective measurement of key objectives and targets through departmental KPI's.

Role Requirements:
The successful candidate will:
Be MCIPS qualified or working towards - Essential
Have experience of working in a dynamic procurement environment
Have a detailed understanding of procurement practices.
Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Be able to work proactively within teams or as an individual.
Have relevant contract management experience, based on modern techniques, to optimise the supply of materials and services to the shipyard.
Be able to demonstrate a keen attention to detail and have the ability to transpose this into cohesive reports, spreadsheets and presentations preferably in the relevant MS software (Excel, Word and Powerpoint).
