Our large Defence Client is looking for an experienced Buyer to join their busy team - ROLE ACTIVITIES Manage supplier relationships by improving on p
or suppliers or re-sourcing to new suppliers to achieve higher performance in terms of delivery, quality and price. Ensure item master data accuracy. Ensure confirmed Purchase Order Book dates match the contract Investigate and rectify supply date mismatches, where the Purchase Order does not meet the customer need date. Monitor supplier delivery performance. MPV price optimisation. KEY CANDIDATE REQUIREMENT An experienced Buyer in a manufacturing environment, capable of dealing with complex bills of material, understanding drawings, and working with MRP system. Experience of dealing with other departments such as manufacturing and engineering, and customers. An understanding of broad business requirements and procurements role to play in them. Ability to lead when required and make decisions within own remit to resolve problems. Experience of implementing change or being part of a team driving improvement and applying innovative procurement techniques. A Degree and/or CIPS preferred, although significant relevant experience would also be considered, i.e. procurement experience in a manufacturing business with complex products or mix.
