Bids and Projects Procurement Manager

Bids and Projects Procurement Manager required, ideally with a sub-contracts background, to work for a large Defence organisation based in Crawley

s is an initial 4 month contract, and starts immediately

Key Tasks / Accountabilities
Implementation of Purchasing strategy into new development projects/bids/contracts
To play a key role in the Make/Buy process in terms of manufacturing and design
Focus and optimise supply chain costs early in the development bids, etc, life cycle
Maintain status of Purchasing costs throughout the life of bids, etc
Produce monthly reports on Purchasing activity within the division and all associated Bids, etc
Ensure that contracts are negotiated with suppliers
Manage export license issues
Define and implement strategies
Identify Purchasing Risks and develop and implement associated mitigation plans
Develop and implement a Purchasing strategy
To ensure professional business relationships with all suppliers are maintained

Technical and professional Skills
Purchasing experience, preferably in a development/sub-contract environment
The ability to think strategically, to develop and execute strategic plans
Well developed Risk and Project Management skills
Good understanding of how to reduce costs and improve delivery and quality performance
Ability to facilitate practical' supplier led problem resolution
Good understanding of Terms and Conditions relating to purchased items

Education and Qualifications
MCIPS and Degree Qualified Desired
Higher level business or engineering qualification

The successful candidate will be required to occasionally travel from Crawley to Basingstoke
It may also be required to undergo full security clearance prior to appointment
