Description of Program
The Network Solutions Division of our client is focused on the growth areas of communications, command and control and related overseas markets. The group is bidding for and running a number of C4I Infrastructure Programmes both overseas and in the UK.
Purpose of Position
The Network Solutions Division requires Bid Managers to be responsible for managing current and future bids made.
The role will require close coordination with the groups Business Development Managers, International Marketing Managers (and Engineering /Project Managers elsewhere in the business). The role requires a balanced mix of technical competence, commercial awareness plus project and people management skills.
Responsibilities
Set up and run one or more bids concurrently within time and budget with the clear aim of capturing the follow-on business.
Be part of a team of champions for the bidding process within GD, and act as a source of advice and knowledge on the bidding process.
Develop close relationships with customers, sub-contractors, teaming partners and internal projects
Be responsible for the management and creation of proposals and study outputs.
Produce and deliver effective presentations
Undertake Business Development activities when required
Act as Project Manager (Designate) on bids or as Project Manager on an existing contract in the event of lack of bid work
Education/Experience
ESSENTIAL
Relevant experience in all aspects of bid and project management within the Defence environment
A bachelors degree or equivalent in engineering, management or a related subject or equivalent experience
Bid or project management experience
Good teambuilding skills
Proactive and responsive approach, open to new ideas
Good communication skills both written and oral
Familiar with MoDs Acquisition Process.
Defence & MoD knowledge
Commercial and sub-contract management experience
Experience specifically in the Land domain.
Hold or be capable of holding a NATO Secret security clearance
Willing to travel to the various customer/contractor locations sometimes overseas
DESIRABLE:
Familiarization with world Land markets
Systems engineering experience
Experience within a design and development, production or logistic support environment
Communications/C4I technical background
