Bid Manager - based in the North West - For a leading defence company. This position is subject to the successful candidate meeting full MOD Security Clearance checking criteria.
To manage, direct and be accountable for the delivery of costed, business winning proposals, on time, to a given high standard and to budget. The successful candidate will work within a bid team managing much smaller bids circa value £5m.
Ideally educated to degree or equivalent level or relevant experience demonstrated.
Ability to work as part of a team and be self motivated with a willingness to exercise initiative. Able to communicate effectively at all levels. The job will be demanding, often working to tight timescales so the ability to work under pressure for long periods, occasionally into the evening and at weekends is essential. Flexibility to travel when required is also essential.
Key Tasks
Co-ordinating and driving bid team to submit timely and professional bids. Costing/estimating cost elements of the bid. Carrying out risk analysis for each bid. Identifying the effort requirements of bids and planning for forecasted wins in conjunction with Resource Manager. Production of high quality bid documents. Helping to maintain a library of up-to-date boiler plate material for use in bids, proposals and pre-qualifications. Ensuring Thales bid processes are followed and authorization levels are adhered to. Reporting of status of current bidding activity of the Manchester Integration Centre and involvement in overall bid reporting for Integration Centre.
Technical & Professional skills
Candidates must have commercial awareness, cost control experience, understand a project plan and document control. Ideally an individual that has worked on managing pre qualification bids. Transportation and/or energy industry highly desirable.
