Scope Provide theoretical and practical capability whilst being aware of the latest developments in the relevant body hardware systems, selecting and engineering the systems and components. Apply generic releasing and engineering skills to both BIW (Body in White) and hardware systems. Detail engineering sign off plans from concept to final validation and production with an understanding of associated costs. Be aware of all applicable technologies and latest developments in their field. Support the body hardware objectives as detailed by the head of department and functional manager.
Key Responsibilities Responsible for developing and maintaining technical knowledge/capability.
Responsible for defining and planning own work for approval by Functional Manager. Accountable for planning, monitoring and expediting all test, validation and certification of systems/components. Accountable for timely parts release for prototype build and production, and for timely delivery of all Product Engineering activities required to achieve timely vehicle launch to quality and cost. This role will initially focus on the Closures area of the department, supporting and closing out all remaining model year activities within Closures. This will provide a rapid departmental exposure and learning curve. Flexibility to move within the body hardware department (BIW, bumpers, hardware, roof) is mandatory.
Qualifications Appropriate Engineering Degree Previous Experience Demonstrated experience as an engineer working on automotive products. Desire to work in body hardware and progress technical and management skills with high levels of drive and motivation are essential.
