Reporting to the Principal Engineer for Vehicle Safety, the successful candidate will liaise with internal departments, suppliers and development to sign off restraint systems for current and future vehicles.
Person Specification
Minimum 5 years experience gained within vehicle safety. Ideally with responsibility for restraint systems.
Ideally degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline although HND and experience will be considered.
Knowledge of project related principles such as APQP documentation.
Responsibilities
Define component level targets (from legal requirements, OEM (SDS), SAE, industry standard practice etc).
Lead a team to deliver restraints system components. Take ownership for the development and release of all vehicle restraints (Airbags, seatbelts, restraint electronics etc) across all VH platform vehicles.
Lead the management of external suppliers to deliver all program targets.
Develop DVP and supplier D&D tests for restraints components (ongoing control/review)
Ensure failure avoidance tools and processes (DFMEA/FMA etc) are applied to restraint components
Ensure engineering releases are completed to highest quality and on time
Ensure restraint related concerns are resolved to the highest quality and on time
Complete engineering signoff/approval of component performance
Drive engineering issue resolution to meet all program targets and constraints
