Major Duties: In summary, the role involves:
•Effecting repairs and, where proficient, troubleshooting in case of equipment malfunction for a range of laboratory automation including liquid handling devices ( e.g. Tecan Genesis, Biomek FX, Thermo multidrop, Perkin Elmer Flexdrop; CyBio CyBiwell, etc, etc.) and readers (e.g. Tecan Ultra and Spectrafluor; Perkin Elmer Topcounts, LSC's and BigSpots, Molecular Devices Analysts and Spectramax's,)
•Giving accurate problem descriptions and diagnoses to Automation engineering team members and external support engineers
•Co-ordinating and expediting repairs by external support engineers
•Carrying out quality control protocols to assess the efficacy of repairs and ensure correct performance is achieved
•Maintaining accurate records of faults and repairs
•Interact with other team members as required
•Conform to all company and local safe working practices
•Implement routine preventative maintenance schedules for various types of frequently used liquid handling equipment.
•Adopt a responsible approach to all safety issues around the use of semi-automated and automated equipment and their associated mechanical, electrical, chemical and biological hazards.
•Ensure that personal work is within procedures and provide instruction where possible to allow outside engineers to work within these.
•Provide feedback to team members and client departments regarding work in progress, resolution times and cost / implications of work.
•Employ effective prioritisation to in progress and incoming work, providing feedback and alternative options where possible.
