Description
ROLE DESCRIPTION
To provide effective and efficient training analysis, design, development and delivery of training solutions covering a diverse range of systems and subjects to meet the customers needs and requirements plus the programme plan.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• Five years practical experience within the jobholders specialist discipline, e.g. at technician level.
• Circa three years experience as a qualified instructor, teaching or designing training within a relevant environment (ideally with recognised certification)
• Good interpersonal skills to enable the teaching of specialist skills and knowledge across the range of cultures, status, intellect and ability.
• Qualifications appropriate to the jobholders specialisation (e.g. HNC, ONC, apprenticeship, BTEC, etc.). NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a training discipline would be desirable.
TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Lead, direct and mentor Training Assistant to achieve programme events, to time, cost and quality standards.
2. Direct and lead specialist training activities and conduct specialist training to support the specific needs of customers.
3. Provide specialist inputs as a subject matter expert to the bidding process in response to customer enquiries and training proposals
4. Ensure the general welfare of students in assigned areas during training activities and monitor their performance so that each individual achieves maximum progress towards the training objectives
5. Conduct technical interviews with prospective employees to determine and report on their theoretical and practical proficiency levels.
6. Carry out analysis, design, production, development and delivery of new and existing training courses, ensuring they are aligned to meet the customers needs in terms of time, cost and specification. Deliver practical OJT / training consolidation in the operational environment, in line with appropriate policies and procedures.
7. Research, write and validate advanced training notes for use in support of BAE SYSTEMS and customers training organisations
8. Specify, design and develop appropriate and effective training aids including computer aided instruction and advanced desktop training systems to ensure course delivery within BAE SYSTEMS, the customers training facilities, or in line with contractual deliverables
9. Produce training support materials including curriculum, training objectives, syllabuses, course plans, and assessment and evaluation methods - to satisfy both BAE SYSTEMS and customers training requirements
10. Maintain and review the required levels of technical expertise to ensure compatibility with technical advances and in line with both current and developing customer and business needs.
11. Conduct assessment and evaluation exercises in accordance with the Systems Approach to Training (SAT) model and implement remedial action as required.
12. Plan, control and deliver assigned training related projects, appropriate to the individuals specialism and experience..

• Supervisory ability within an operational training environment
• Detailed understanding of the design and operation of complex and integrated systems, enabling theoretical and practical applications to be utilised in both training and operational environments (e.g. sufficient to teach detailed maintenance procedure, fault diagnosis and defect rectification)
• Operation of complex training aids and simulators
• Detailed knowledge in the operation and use of IT systems to support relevant systems (including computer aided instruction, desktop publishing, databases, training development software)
• Sound business awareness.
• Good interpersonal skills to be able to teach specialist skills and knowledge across a range of cultures, status, intellect and technical ability.
• Well developed planning and organising skills to meet the precise timings required by training programmes and programme plans.
• Understands what is required to meet internal and external customer requirements
• Good knowledge and application of relevant HSE and Quality processes and procedures.
• Strong analytical skills; good knowledge of relevant analytical techniques
