Description
The job holder will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Company's quality management processes, with a focus on providing quality management support into the three technical sector teams.
The job holder will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Company's quality management processes, with a focus on providing quality management support into the three technical sector teams. The job holder will be required to liaise closely with the engineering staff and Project Managers to ensure adequate controls are in place to guarantee product quality. Follow up product and process quality auditing will be completed, and the role will also require the collection and reporting of data against quality KPIs.
Reporting to Project Manager, the job holder must demonstrate a firm understanding in engineering design, software development and business processes, and to have a specific capability in quality management. You will provide both support and advice to engineering project teams, whilst also monitoring their performance against quality objectives. The role therefore requires strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work closely with other departmental teams.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Support the continual improvement of the Company's AS EN 9100 Quality Management Systems through performance measurement and internal process audits.
2.Undertake project quality planning and start-up.
3.Lead the contract review process.
4.Assist in defining verification and validation activities
5.Undertake product quality audits and support product configuration control
6.Lead lessons learnt and closedown processes.
7.Undertake supplier assessment auditing and make recommendations for approvals.
8.Support customer feedback and complaint handling.
9.Provide in-house training and induction on quality management processes.
10.Receive and escort visitors on second- and third-party quality audits and respond to issues raised.
11.Work closely with the technical sector project management teams in delivering product quality.
Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge:
The job holder will preferably be educated to degree level, or similar, in a related discipline such as engineering or computer science. The jobholder will ideally have gained further knowledge in at least one of the key business areas such as software engineering, aerospace or defence work. Direct background of systems-based approaches to quality management such as ISO 9000, AS EN 9100, Tick IT or a similar standard is preferable.
The role will require you to be diplomatic and confident, both when dealing with customers and when completing internal auditing. You will be expected to maintain customer focus at all times and to work as part of the Operations Support Team. You will be reliable, work in a methodical an organised manner, and be excellent in agreeing and communicating shared objectives.
You will require high levels of initiative and motivation. You will be able to manage your own workload, whilst knowing when to escalate key issues, risks and decisions. You will have good attention to detail and the ability to work quickly and efficiently.
Additional skills required include:
•Excellent writing and communication skills, including presentation skills.
•IT skills in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
•An approved quality auditing qualification is desirable but not essential.
