Description
LEONI Wiring Systems UK Ltd is a successful and rapidly expanding supplier of wire, cable and wiring systems, employing over 51,000 people in over 70 locations in 30 countries world-wide, with sales revenue in excess of 2.4 billion. The UK branch employs more than 200 people and provides a comprehensive commercial engineering support capability to UK customers.
We are looking to recruit an Advanced Product and Quality Planning (APQP) Engineer to take responsibility for supporting customers and suppliers on various quality related matters. Our product is bespoke to each vehicle, has specifically designed elements and is a complex assembly of hundreds of parts, and this key role will allow us to provide a full service including design, manufacture and customer support for the life of the product.
The main duties and responsibilities held in this position are as follows:
• Taking ownership of APQP activities through vehicle development build phases;
• Co-ordinating and reporting APQP status in line with LEONI and customer expectations both internally and with the OEM;
• Participating in internal and external audits, checking and assessing craftsmanship, and reporting on findings;
• Controlling the implementation of all new documents in line with customer and ISO/TS 16949 requirements;
• Assessing and highlighting potential warranty concerns from sample builds;
• Trouble shooting potential problems on quality concerns related to the status of APQP;
• Ensuring prompt, efficient and effective resolving of any problems, and managing containment actions;
• Ensuring rework is controlled in the correct manner in adherence to customer policies;
• Liaising between customer/ plant and DC centres regarding delivery related product quality concerns;
• Providing efficient supplier support for 8d resolution for all end fit items.
Some travelling will be required both UK and overseas.
Applicants are required to be educated to HND/ degree level in a relevant engineering discipline, and have proven experience in a similar role. Proven experience of working with APQP within a Ford environment with QS9000 and ISO/TS 16949 quality systems is advantageous. Applicants must possess excellent communication, organisational and analytical skills.
