Position Description:
Run existing diesel after-treatment models to predict system performance and thereby:
-assist in the definition of after-treatment concepts develop engine-out emissions and temperature targets
-define after-treatment component sizes, loadings etc.
- identify loadings etc. for optimisation studies
-assess systems for robustness
-Plan and assist in testing of components and systems to correlate and validate existing after-treatment models
-Assist in the definition of improved test procedures for model correlation and validation
-Define required improvements to existing after-treatment models
-Collaborate in the development of new (improved and extended) after-treatment models covering all future components and systems
Skills Required:
Knowledge of emissions after-treatment simulation techniques
Working knowledge of diesel engine emissions after-treatment systems and calibration. Proven knowledge on emissions testing of EU4/5/6 diesel engines and vehicles, including cDPF systems.
Skills Preferred:
Core engineering experience, with the ability to evaluate problems and propose resolutions.
Working knowledge on use of MS Excel, Word, Project, Access and Matlab,
Any person supplied should have a valid UK driving licence
Working knowledge of project delivery process - FPDS, GPDS
Working knowledge of quality tools - EFDVS, DFMEA, APQP and DVP
Working knowledge of change management processes - AIMS, WERS, PNR/PACN, PMST support
Experience Required:

Position Description:
AIS & Exhaust CAE analyst & NVH engineer PT NVH intake & exhaust sound quality section provide an analysis service for intake & exhaust NVH development. This comprises of 1D simulation, white noise rig test and vehicle testing. Attributes covered are :- Exhaust system orifice noise; Transmission loss of exhaust components, Exhaust system back pressure; Exhaust system radiated noise & vibration characteristics. The activities span the APC, PrePS and Virtual Series product development phases, through to FDJ
Skills Required:
1) Carry out orifice noise & transmission loss analysis of exhaust system components
a. Construct Wave models using Ricardo's Wavemesher and WaveBuild3D
b. Perform normal exhaust orifice & transmission loss analysis
2) Manage development of exhaust component radiated noise & vibration characteristics 3) Carry out design optimisation studies
4) Support vehicle testing and analyse measured results
Skills Preferred:
HND or preferably Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
Experience of 1D modelling using Ricardo's Wave.
Proven ability in NVH measurement techniques.

Assist the development and application of powertrain cooling system CAE models, principally using Flowmaster. Support the acquisition and preparation of component data and boundary conditions. Conduct vehicle-level simulation of powertrain cooling systems for a variety of vehicles and steady-state and transient drive cycles, supporting cooling system design, CO2 reduction and cabin comfort improvement. Generate formal analysis reports. Assist the development of powertrain thermal management system simulation methodology.
Skills Required:
Skilled in the use of Flowmaster for cooling system performance simulation and optimization. Good understanding of fluid flow and heat transfer principles and knowledge of powertrain heat rejection. Able to articulate model input and validation data reqts. and identify data reqts. for reliable simulation. Able to work independently and complete tasks accurately with minimum supervision. Able to trace, identify and correct sources of error or inaccuracy in CAE models. Well-developed data analysis and presentation skills; able to explain simulation results to a wide audience.
Skills Preferred:
Familiarity with CAD visualisation systems (e.g. Visual Mock-up).
Knowledge of physical vehicle cooling sign-off test cycles.
Familiarity with vehicle performance simulation an advantage.
Proven relevant experimental capability (powertrain and/or vehicle test).
Experience Required:
Proven success in the application of Flowmaster to powertrain cooling system design and development.
Clear evidence of a sound understanding of fluid mechanics and heat transfer.

Able to run baseline CAE analysis, summarise results and feedback conclusions to the Body NVH Team Leader in an efficient manner. Able to work effectively with design teams to develop solutions within defined deadlines and time constraints. Have an awareness of potential design constraints (packaging, manufacturing etc.) and ensure due consideration is given in developing solutions.
Skills Required:

Familiarity and experience of working practices relating to CAE methods and processes.
Education Required:
